Club honored at 2007 Rotary District Conference
Club President Tony Weiler, President-elect Diana Butcher, Past District Governors Bob Peterson and Al Watrel, and Past President Dan Presler, and their spouses attended our 2007 District Conference at Cragun's Resort on Gull Lake northwest of Brainerd, Minn., April 18-22.
Tony reports, "The District 5580 Conference in Brainerd was a great success. There were many attendees from throughout the district. The focus of the meeting was on youth and how best to accomplish Rotary's mission in the world of helping youth and people who live in impoverished areas of the world or in unsanitary conditions. The speakers also focused on educating attendees on the best way to recruit and retain members, and how to publicize a club's accomplishments.
"Our Club received two awards. We tied for Best Website and Best International Project. Both outstanding achievements with a district with 66 clubs," Tony noted.
The new District Governor is Jim Ozbun from Dickinson. Jim is the retired President of North Dakota State University. The District Governor-elect is Robert "Tully" Chambers from Wahpeton. The District Governor Nominee is Ajoy Chatterjee, from Thunder Bay. Al Watrel is a Zone Director.
